Habits of Grace: Connecting with God through His Word

We are starting a rhythm at Grace where every January we will take a deep look at habits of grace - habits of the Christian life that God uses to reveal His grace to us (if you’ve been around the church for a while, you’ve probably heard them referred to as “spiritual disciplines”).

This year, we will be focusing on Connecting with God through His Word.

We are glad to partner with other local churches for the 25th Annual Community Thanksgiving meal! Taking part in this event is a tangible way for us to love the people around us. We are excited about this opportunity to meet physical needs, while also ministering to the spiritually hungry people in our community.

Please review our needs and sign up for a way to contribute to this service for our community.

We were blessed by Dr Jim Burns and his wise and practical teaching on Understanding Your Teenager. But we also know this is a busy season, and not everyone who was interested in attending the conference was able to make it.

Because Jim believes in the content he shared and wants it in as many hands as possible, he graciously allowed us to record the sessions and share the videos with you!

If you were not able to attend and would like to watch the sessions—or if you did attend, but simply want a refresher!—please register below. Once the videos are available, we will email you a link where you can watch and learn how to reach the teenagers (or future teenagers) in your life with the Gospel.

Parenting Conference: Understanding Your Teenager

Parenting Conference - October 2020.jpg

Saturday, October 24 | 8:15am–12:15pm, check-in and coffee bar at 7:45am | Fireside Room

Today’s teenagers are facing immense challenges and we, as their parents and grandparents, have the tall and noble task of helping them navigate these rough waters—all while tackling our own challenge of how to understand what is going on in their world. This one-day conference will give a roadmap to help you understand your teenager (or future teenager) and help him/her tackle life’s big issues with wisdom and grace.

We are encouraging parents and grandparents of all ages to attend this conference because, even if your kids aren’t teenagers yet, Lord willing they will be one day and we want you to be prepared.

All of this great information (and snacks!) and the conference only costs $5 per adult and $2 per child (for child care)!

Registration deadline: Registration for the conference closed on Wednesday, October 21. We will be recording the sessions and will make those available after the conference.

Teenagers are growing up in a very different world than even the previous generation. They are in transition between childhood and adulthood. They are seeking autonomy and at the same time still quite dependent on their family. In this seminar we will explore “Who is that stranger in your house?” and talk about what they are going through in life. We will look at how to be a more effective parent and how to connect with our kids in this important stage in life. We will look at the issues of:

  • Sexuality

  • Ending the homework hassle

  • Peer pressure

  • Rules and boundaries

  • Bringing out the best in our teens

  • Choosing which battles to fight

  • Raising teens to be responsible adults

  • And much more

This seminar won’t give you all the answers but will be a wonderful road map to help successfully guide your kids through the rough waters of adolescence.

We are encouraging parents and grandparents of all ages to attend this conference because, even if your kids aren’t teenagers yet, Lord willing they will be one day and we want you to be prepared.
